Cricket; Everything’s Peachey for Marchmont

Will COLLIER and Sam Peachey led the way with the bat as Marchmont notched up their second win of the East One season at Cavalry Park on Saturday.

In one of only two matches in the top flight to survive, the hosts restricted Murrayfield DAFS to 141-8 batting first. Matt Loeffen took 3-31 with the ball while Adnan Jaffray top scored for DAFS with a 50.

In reply, the experienced duo of Collier and Peachey hit 43 and 42 respectively as Marchmont reached their victory target with four wickets to spare.

Fellow promoted side Musselburgh also had a good day, toppling league leaders Dunfermline at McKane Park.

Kevin Dilley was the main man with the ball for Musselburgh, his 5-30 helping restrict the Fifers to 168 all out.

Deva Mahadevan then batted superbly for his 63 as the East Lothian men sneaked home with two wickets in hand and continued their good start to 2012.

In East Two Boroughmuir went down to St Boswells at The Green in the only match played.

‘Muir struggled to 78 all out batting first, Craig McNeil snapping up 4-15 for the Borderers. The hosts then reached their target for the loss of six wickets.
