Cricket: Imran shows his class as Edinburgh keep rolling on

Atif IMRAN led the way with a great all-round performance as Edinburgh dominated their East Two cricket encounter with Leith FAB on Saturday to stay top of the table.

With all matches falling foul of the weather in East One, all eyes fell on the second tier and Edinburgh added to their victories over Heriot’s II and Kismet in style.

At Leith Links, they batted first and managed to post 208-6 from their 30 overs, the match having been shortened from the usual 50.

Rahul Patel was the best bowler for Leith FAB with 3-33 from six overs.

In reply, Leith FAB, who had won one of their three previous league matches this summer going into this one, struggled from the off and were all out for just 43.

The highest score by an individual batsman was just ten from Alessandro Sutcliffe while skipper Tam Heinitz was next with nine and there were four ducks.

With the ball, Imran returned the amazing figures of 3-2 from six overs which included four maidens as Edinburgh showed they will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming months after a 165-run win.

Most other matches in all nine regional divisions were off and, after four weeks, many teams are still waiting for their season to properly get started.
