Scotland Women’s cricket captain Abbi Aitken has backed her players to put in a good performance in tomorrow’s first match at the World Twenty20 qualifiers in Thailand.
Aitken, who plays for Carlton in the Capital as well as Stirling County, led the team to a confidence-boosting warm-up win on Wednesday against Zimbabwe.
Now they begin the competitive matches in Group A and take on Papua New Guinea at the Thailand Cricket Ground in Bangkok tomorrow with a number of Edinburgh-based players hoping to be in the XI. Aitken said: “The warm-up win has given us all confidence. We are now used to the heat out here and we are raring to go.”
After tomorrow’s opener, the Scots play Bangladesh on Sunday and then Thailand on Tuesday.
