Heriot’s pair Michael Shean and Duncan Hamilton put together a superb stand for the final wicket in the Citylets Scottish Cup second round to help their side win at West of Scotland today.

Needing 136 to win the match, Heriot’s still required 41 runs when last man Hamilton came to the wicket, but he dug in while Shean (68 not out) played superbly to see them through.

Andy Hislop, the Watsonians wicketkeeper, had an eventful day as he ran the Edinburgh Half Marathon and then helped his side to progress. In the morning he posted a time of 1 hour 40 minutes and six seconds in the race and then travelled to Myreside in time for the noon start of the second round clash with Stenhousemuir. He then kept wicket for 50 overs before opening the batting and hitting 57 not out to see his side safely through to next month’s quarter-finals by nine wickets.

Mazars Grange were on the road to Prestwick and they returned with a comfortable seven-wicket win. Andrew Brock took four wickets as the home side were all out for 148.

Ryan Flannigan then hit a half century.

Fraser Watts hit 113 as Carlton defeated holders Clydesdale.

RH Corstorphine lost at Tayside Group Forfarshire. Chasing a target of 174 they were all out for 100.
