Heriot’s cricketer Steve Knox will celebrate ten years at the club by hosting a six-a-side tournament featuring many of his current and former team mates at Goldenacre tomorrow.
Ex-Scotland player Knox joined in 2006 from Grange and has played there for the last decade and, as a result, was granted a testimonial.
Eight teams will contest the tournament with ‘The Nails’, Heriot’s Legends and the 2012 Scottish Cup winners representing the home club.
Charlie MacLeod will be leading out ‘The Nails’ – made up of the club’s up-and-coming talent – while the likes of Sean Weeraratna and Kevin McLaren will be turning out for the 2012 vintage. The line-up is then completed by Grange, Scotland, Penicuik, Stoneywood-Dyce and Cumberland.
The Scotland team looks set to be strong with the likes of Carlton’s Preston Mommsen and Fraser Watts involved along with Watsonians Dewald Nel.
Knox, 41, said: “It should be a cracking day and I’m looking forward to catching up with a number of old team mates.” The event starts at 12.45pm.
More than 100 will attend a dinner at Heriot’s rugby club in the evening where well-known Scottish cricketer Sandy Strang will be speaking and Grange’s Bobby Frazer will be emcee.
