Dylan Budge, the Mazars Grange all-rounder, cannot wait to test himself against some of the best players in the world over the coming days.
The 21-year-old was called-up to the Scotland squad for the two matches with Sri Lanka on Sunday and Tuesday in Beckenham, Kent, which are not classed as ODIs.
That call-up came after some impressive early season form with Grange and he puts that down to a stint in pre-season at the European Performance Centre in La Manga.
“Getting out to the warm weather with a group of other players before the season and working for five or six days focused on our cricket really got me in a good frame of mind and since then and I have managed to kick on,” he said.
“To be named in my first Scotland squad is something special and I just can’t wait to get down there with the lads and really give it my all against top class opponents.”
Budge is one of four players from Capital clubs in the 14-man party for the games, George Munsey (Watsonians), Mark Watt (Heriot’s) and Ali Evans (Carlton) the others.
Former Grange man Chris Sole, now with English county Hampshire, is also involved. having recovered from a broken hand.
Scotland squad: Kyle Coetzer, Con de Lange, George Munsey, Matt Cross, Calum MacLeod, Richie Berrington, Craig Wallace, Michael Leask, Mark Watt, Ali Evans, Stuart Whittingham, Gavin Main, Dylan Budge, Chris Sole.
