Local teams aim for Twenty20 quarter-finals

Ten local teams will be looking to join Edinburgh and SMRH in the quarter-finals of the Murgitroyd Masterton Trophy when they play their first round ties in the coming days.

The Twenty20 action starts tonight with holders Mazars Grange taking on Morton. Both sides are unbeaten in their respective leagues so far this term, winning three from three.

However, despite missing the likes of captain Andrew Brock, Raj Routray and Tom Sole who are in Holland with the Highlanders, and George Munsey who is on trial at Northants, Grange will start as favourites given that they are in the CSL Eastern Premiership and Morton are in Baillie Gifford East Two.

Elsewhere this evening Murrayfield DAFS, who got their first win of the season at the weekend, travel to Myreside to face Watsonians who will be looking for a confidence-boosting performance.

Top flight side RH Corstorphine make the trip to Arboretum to take on Holy Cross while Stuart&Stuart Penicuik welcome Edinburgh Accies to Kirkhill. On Thursday evening Heriot’s travel to Boghall to play West Lothian.

The final first-round tie between Boroughmuir and Marchmont is not due to be played until Tuesday, May 26 at Meggetland.
