Mazars Grange and Heriot’s will meet in the final of the Citylets Scottish Cup final after dramatic semi-final victories yesterday.
At Portgower Place, Ferguslie won the toss and decided to bat first. They got off to a relatively slow start before Michael English and Riyaad Henry came together. The former hit a superb 109 with Henry making 93.
That helped their team up to 273-9 from their 50 overs.
Grange batted well in reply but required 11 off the final over with captain Preston Mommsen (90 not out) and Tom Mackintosh at the crease.
Mackintosh, who is only 15, hit a six, a two and a four off Henry to spark wild celebrations, ending on 17 not out as they won by three wickets.
At Goldenacre, Arbroath won the toss and went on to make 287-9. Skipper Keith Morton took four wickets for Heriot’s.
In their reply Heriot’s lost Elnathan Meiri and Hayes van der Berg early on. After 40 overs Heriot’s had lost four wickets and needed a further 93 to win.
They came through though by five wickets, Chris Ashforth smashing 89 off 54 balls.
The final is on August 19 in Paisley.
