Mahalingam century keeps Morton top of East Two

Morton remain top of Baillie Gifford East Two after their terrific summer continued on Saturday, Krishnan Mahalingam scoring a brilliant unbeaten century against Largo.

Largo, however, made a decent 213-9 when batting first, Sennad Aron the pick of the Morton bowlers with three wickets.

Arunkumar Daniel and Senthil Nathan both took two wickets apiece. In the Morton reply, Mahalingam scored 111 not out to see the Capital side home by eight wickets.

Aron had set the tone opening the batting with 62 while skipper Nathan chipped in with 27 not out. The victory was Morton’s eighth of the league season and they look set to continue their remarkable march up the divisions.

SMRH II are fourth in the division after they defeated Livingston at Inverleith. In a match reduced to 40 overs, Livingston made 146 all out batting first.

Ranjith Augustine took three wickets for the home side with Rakesh Pilli picking up two.

Andrew Tetley hit a good 34 for SMRH and then Vic Coltherd saw them home with 37 not out as they won by five wickets. In East One, Heriot’s II defeated Watsonians II at Craiglockhart.

Edinburgh Accies scored a superb 290-8 to set them up for a 55-run win at Musselburgh while West Lothian lost to St Boswells.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh South lost at Gala.
