Carlton and Mazars Grange’s cricketers will complete their busy weekends tomorrow with Scottish Cup quarter-final ties, the former boosted by the return of two key players.
At Grange Loan, Carlton will be taking on Kelburne while across in Stockbridge, Grange will be hosting Stoneywood-Dyce.
Having never won the event in their history, this trophy is one that Carlton dearly want.
Two years ago in the final in Stirling, they lost out to Grange. Tomorrow, though, they will have Scotland men Preston Mommsen and Ali Evans back in their ranks after international T20 duties.
To get to this stage, Carlton have put in two cracking performances, particularly in the field, to see off Clydesdale and Aberdeenshire.
Grange have won the Scottish Cup for the last two seasons, last year defeating Clydesdale to complete a successful defence after the previous season’s victory over Carlton. They have their minds focused on a hat-trick of wins and have got to the last eight with wins over Uddingston and Prestwick.
Meanwhile, in the last eight of the Challenge Cup, Marchmont travel to Glasgow tomorrow to take on Hillhead.
