Curling: Storm Brews for Campbell

Murrayfield’s Colin Campbell and his team face curling’s “nearly man” Tom Brewster in the opening round-robin matches at the European Championship play-offs in Perth later today.

World silver medallist Brewster has lost three other finals recently, including last weekend’s Champery Masters in Switzerland.

And Campbell, John Penny, Scott MacLeod and skip David Edwards missed out on the Champery quarter-finals. “It was a bit of a frustrating weekend with some good performances and then some really bad ones,” admitted Campbell. “Hopefully we can eliminate the bad ones this week.”

Also chasing the right to represent Scotland in Moscow in December are three-time European champion David Murdoch and Forfar’s Sandy Reid.
