Cycling: Falcons set to swoop against schools’ select

Edinburgh FALCONS junior cycle speedway side take on a Scottish Schools’ select tonight in a ground-breaking fixture at Redbraes Park (6.00pm).

This is the first time two sides drawn entirely from school pupils have raced in an official meeting at the track.

The Scottish Schools’ side has been selected by Scotland team manager Gavin Kennedy and is drawn from each of the three schools who competed in the recent schools’ indoor league at the Jack Kane Centre.

Liberton High School, runners- up on that occasion, provide Connor Garvey, Ben Wright, Ted Kanjewe and JP Mason while winners Queen Anne High, Dunfermline, are represented by Joel Kelman and Harry Langdale while Nathan Barrie represents Inverkeithing High School.

Edinburgh Falcons side will be led by two youngsters from Craigmount High School, Mark Lee and Dougie Morgan, who have posted some impressive scores for the Falcons senior side recently. St Mungo’s High student Ewan Kennedy and primary school pupils Callum Cairney, Sean Hewitson and Paul Lee complete the line-up.
