Capital cyclist Callum Skinner has been named in the Great Britain squad for the UCI World Track Championships in Paris later this month – his first experience of the competition.
The European kilometre time trial champion had an unscheduled spell on the side lines after picking up an illness while on World Cup duty in Mexico.
However, the 22-year-old multiple British title holder is now back to full health and ready for the challenge.
He recently finished second in the sprint at the Glasgow leg of the Revolution Series behind Olympic champion Jason Kenny, who will be a team-mate in France. The duo are expected to combine in the team sprint as well as competing in individual events.
Skinner, who now rides for Rigmar Racers, was formerly a member of the City of Edinburgh club. That is also true of the other Scot named in the squad for Paris, Katy Archibald, who will ride in the women’s endurance races. She was a member of the squad that won the women’s team pursuit title in Cali, Columbia last year.
