Capital-based Commonwealth Games cycling medallist James McCallum has been appointed as man manager of the ONE Pro Team which has appointed him as its coach and sporting director with immediate effect.
The 36-year-old, who retired last season, has been working with the Neon Velo squad since the start of 2015 but leapt at the opportunity to move to ONE Pro, which was set up last December by former England cricketer Matt Prior and has ambitions to compete in the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana.
McCallum will be with ONE Pro at the Ronde van Midden-Nederland in Netherlands this weekend and will be part of the management team at the Tour of Britain which starts next week.
Looking ahead to his new role, McCallum said: “When the opportunity arose to join ONE Pro Cycling it was a very easy decision for me. It was clear seeing how the team operated all year that they were going places with their professionalism and the way they do things.
“I can’t wait to get involved, it promises to be a very exciting journey”.
