CAPITAL cycling star Bruce Croall successfully defended the Scottish kilometre time trial title at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow yesterday.
But although the City of Edinburgh rider broke his own native record, his time of 1 minute 3.616 seconds fell marginally short of his personal best and also outside the qualifying standard for next summer’s Commonwealth Games.
Club-mate Katie Archibald won the women’s 3k individual pursuit, which was all the more impressive as she had been injured in a crash at the Revolution Meeting in Manchester the previous day.
Meanwhile, Capital-based Silas Goldsworthy (Sandy Wallace Cycles) set a Scottish record of 4:35.506 to clinch the men’s 4k pursuit title.
There was also success for Lulu Bartlett (Racers) in the girls 2k event and junior winner Louise Borthwick, whose Edinburgh RC team mate Ben Forsyth won the youth event, as well as receiving the prestigious Chris Hoy award as the city’s most promising young rider.
