Cycling: Richardson takes titles at Track Champs

Ellie Richardson of Edinburgh RC was the leading performer in the Scottish Track Championships at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, taking three titles.

The 28-year-old struck gold in the individual sprint, then won the 500 metres time trial ahead of her colleague Alison Chisholm before the duo linked up to win the team sprint.

Louise Haston (City of Edinburgh) took bronze in the Keirin and the individual pursuit.

Her former clubmate Charline Joiner, now competing for Pearl Izumi Sports Tours, won the points race and Keirin as well as taking second place in the sprint.

City of Edinburgh’s John Paul topped the podium in the individual sprint, beating his international colleague Chris Pritchard (Team USN), and won the Keirin. Paul’s team-mate Bruce Croall took the honours in the kilometre time trial.

Rigmar Racers trio Alistair Rutherford, Phil Trodden and Peter Anderson claimed the medals in the 30-kilometre points race, while Trodden took the honours ahead of Anderson in the individual pursuit.
