Teenage Capital cyclists Lulu Bartlett and Emma Borthwick have earned an opportunity to taste international competition at the Statoil Arctic Heroes of Tomorrow Race in northern Norway in August.

Earlier this week, the 18-year-olds travelled to Aberdeen – the Scottish base of Statoil – for a training ride alongside multi Tour de France stage winner and former world road race champion Thor Hushovd – the Norwegian star who is an ambassador for the race – as part of their preparations for the event.

Bartlett, who rides for the Racers, and Borthwick, of Edinburgh Road Club, feature in a team of ten riders who will race in Scotland colours against squads from England, Finland, France, Norway and Russia. Each team will have four girls and six boys aged 17 and 18 over the same circuit as the final stage of The Arctic Race of Norway, a race won by Hushovd in 2013.
