Lothians cyclist Evan Oliphant will continue his busy racing schedule when he lines up in tonight’s Sheffield Hallam Grand Prix, the latest round of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series.
The Team Raleigh-GAC rider finished in eighth spot at last week’s race in Colne, Lancashire, a race won by his team-mate Andy Hawdon, who was targeting the victory.
Oliphant currently lies third in the overall standings at the halfway point in the competition but has a substantial deficit on the two riders ahead of him in the table so will be looking to make inroads into that gap tonight.
The race will be his ninth competitive outing in under four weeks. The one-hour event will be contested by a 100-strong field over a 1.4-kilometre circuit that is conducive to a fast pace.
