Joe Ewing, a 12-year-old Stewart’s Melville College student, is staking a remarkable claim to being the Capital’s leading young sporting all-rounder.
Recent achievements include becoming the Scottish Schools’ triathlon champion, being chosen as one of three 12-year-old boys to represent Scotland at the Inter Countries Triathlon Championships held in Nottingham and winning the 2013-14 Scottish Aquathlon Series.
Joe also plays for his school first-year football and rugby teams as well as competing successfully in cross-country. In school prize-giving last summer, Joe collected 13 prizes, eight of them from national competitions.
One of his teachers, Mr Luxford-Moore, said: “It amazes me to hear what commitment Joe places on his sporting life, whilst still completing his homework with such enthusiasm. Joe is a very modest boy.”
Joe’s ambition is to compete in an Olympic Games.
