Duddingston golfers eye home comforts in South East District Open

Fifty years after the legendary Ronnie Shade won the inaugural South East District Open, a handful of current Duddingston members will be aiming to emulate him this weekend.

They will also have home advantage as the Scottish Order of Merit event is staged on the Capital course for the sixth time.

Former Lothians champion David Miller spearheads the Duddington challenge, which also includes Gus Santana, Conor Scott, Stewart Hogg and David Downing.

Benn McLeod, who made home advantage count at Musselburgh 12 months ago, faces a tough task in his bid to retain the title.

The field includes four players who finished in the top 20 in this week’s Scottish Open Stroke Play Championship over the King’s Course at Gleneagles – Greg Dalziel (12th), Nurtai Saldarov (13th), Euan McIntosh (15th) and Rory Smith (20th).
