RE-BORN Capital golfer Euan McIntosh celebrated his Scottish Order of Merit title triumph in style by coasting to an eight-shot victory in the South East District Open at Royal Musselburgh.

The 47-year-old Turnhouse player carded rounds of 70, 63, 67 and 64 for a 16-under-par total to finish well clear of defending champion Matt Clark (Kilmacolm) in second place.

McIntosh, who has made an incredible return to the domestic scene since deciding to make a comeback just over a year ago, went into the event with an unassailable lead in the standings. But that certainly didn’t see him take his foot off the pedal in East Lothian, attributing a first win of the season to a putting tip from an old friend from his Tartan Tour days.

“I had an amazing putting lesson off John Wither, the head teaching pro at Banyan Golf Club in Thailand who is over in Scotland at the moment,” said McIntosh.

“He totally changed my routine and thought process and explained in depth why it’s got nothing to do with my stroke and why I wasn’t holing putts. That was the difference this week and that’s why I won.”
