German full-back Lennard Sowah is expected to follow as the clearout continues at Tynecastle. Both players arrived in January and signed short-term deals but are now moving on as head coach Ian Cathro continues reshaping his squad for next season.

Struna held discussions with Hearts about extending his stay although no agreement was reached. The Slovenian internationalist had other options in Europe has now parted company with the club. He made 17 appearances in maroon and scored one goal.

Greek pair Alex Tziolis and Tasos Avlonitis have already been released, with winger Billy King having agreed to join Dundee United. Callum Paterson and Sam Nicholson are due to leave on freedom of contract.

The exits of Struna and Sowah, plus winger Moha Choulay's impeding return to parent club Stoke City, would create plenty space in the Hearts first-team squad for new arrivals.
