Armadale a real threat, says Meikle

PREMIER LEAGUE table- toppers Penicuik face what, on paper, looks like a comfortable game at Armadale tomorrow – but don’t tell that to manager Craig Meikle.

Meikle is fully aware of the threat posed by the West Lothian side, despite their lowly position in the table.

“We don’t have good record against Armadale,” admitted Meikle. “They always prove a really hard team for us to play against.

“It seems every game between us is a really tight one.

“We struggled against them early in the season and we expect the same tomorrow.

“We’re going through there as favourites and that’s pressure for some of the youngsters we have in our squad. The older lads who have been over the course before will need to help them out.”

Meikle insists his team have already achieved their goals set out at the start of the season and is now eager to make it a dream campaign by winning the title and promotion to the Super League. He said: “At the start of the season the management team sat down and set our goals for the coming season.

“We wanted to finish on a better points tally than last year and be in the mix at the end of the season. Our final goal is promotion and if we achieve that it will have been a tremendous season for the club. The players here have a passion for the club. A lot of them could have gone elsewhere but chose to come here. If we do get promoted it will be because of that passion.”

Elsewhere, bottom-placed Arniston head for Glenrothes in their battle to avoid the drop. It’s not looking good for the Gorebridge side, as they are fast running out of games.
