Arthurlie prove too good for Tranent

Arthurlie 5

Arthurlie have a great record in the Cup so it was no surprise then when they raced to a 3-0 half-time lead. The experienced John McLay opened the scoring early on with Paul Stewart and Andy Ferguson adding to their tally.

Tranent regrouped after the break and looked to have weathered the storm. They had chances to get back into the game but a further goal from Andy Ferguson killed off any hopes they had of a fightback.

Arthurlie, with a four-goal cushion, were still looking for more goals though and they were rewarded with a penalty as they ran the clock down.

Ferguson stepped up and converted from the spot to complete a very good hat-trick for himself and confirm an early exit for the visitors.
