Bo’ness United crashed out at the semi-final stage of the Fife & Lothians Cup, losing 5-2 away to Camelon.

The visitors were dominant in the opening half hour, however, and took the lead after 21 minutes through midfielder Ross Philp who bundled home from a Kieran Anderson corner kick.

Striker Colin Allison put the home side back on level terms before the break when he fired home the rebound after David Grant’s initial effort was palmed out by keeper Stewart Baillie. Bo’ness’s usually reliable defence was undone with three goals in a 15 minutes as the Carmuirs Park outfit stamped home their authority.

Grant connected with Derek Ure’s cross to put the home side ahead on 55 minutes, before Marty Wright evaded several challenges to finish from a tight angle and then Allison made it four.

Defended Ross Campbell pulled one back with ten minutes remaining to give the BUs faint hope, but Ure made sure with a spectacular strike from 25 yards out which flew past the helpless Baillie.

Camelon will take on the winner of Monday night’s other semi-final between Sauchie and Linlithgow Rose.
