Bo’ness clash is a Muss-win for Mcglynn’s relegation battlers

The Olivebank men sit third bottom of the table and face an arduous task tomorrow against a Bo’ness side who retain ambitions of making it three title triumphs in a row.

It has all the hallmarks of a entertaining game for the fans but McGlynn insists: “We need to win this one. Bo’ness will be fielding a strong side and we’ll need to be at the top of our game to match them.

“I haven’t seen Bo’ness much but they seem to have lost players and introduced new ones to take their place and have still kept up their momentum.

“It’s been a stop-start season for us. It was tough at the start of the season to pick the players up after going so close in the Scottish Cup last May and possibly we didn’t take the confidence from that that we should have.

“But we’re still positive we can finish the season on a high. We had a great win a couple of weeks ago against Kelty and that’s the way we should be playing every week.

“We rested some players last weekend against Kinnoull and, although we lost, we played some good football.

“We have everyone fit and ready for tomorrow so it’s looking like a close one.”

Bo’ness gaffer Paul Ronald, meanwhile, is relishing the run in. “As champions we’re feel the pressure every week,” he said.

“We’d love to lift the title again for the third time and set another record, but it’s a tough league.

“We need three points tomorrow to keep the pressure on the four teams above us.

“Musselburgh will be another tough nut to crack. They had a great run last season in the Scottish Cup and David McGlynn will have their players up for this one.

“If we make any mistakes they have the players who can punish you. There’s still a long way to go for us in this league while teams around us are nearly finished.

“It’ll be a tough run-in with sides not playing for weeks while having to keep their squads fit.

“We are carrying a couple of players with knocks but they should be all right. We must remain focused for the run in. It’ll be hard for us and if we do manage to lift the title it will be games like Saturday’s which will prove important.”

Elsewhere in the Super League, Bonnyrigg Rose are at home to managerless Bathgate Thistle. Bonnyrigg will no doubt be spied on by their Scottish Junior Cup semi-final opponents Auchinleck Talbot before they go head-to-head in next weekend’s semi-final first leg. Rose are another side with their sights on winning the Super League title so they can’t afford any slip-ups tomorrow.
