Bo’ness edged out in Carnoustie

Carnoustie Panmure 1Bo’ness United 0

Carnoustie’S narrow victory against Bo’ness United keeps them in the Super League and now the pressure is on both Musselburgh Athletic and Bathgate Thistle, one of whom will now be relegated. Musselburgh can help themselves if they win at Hill of Beath in their final game but Bathgate, who finished their season more than a month ago, must sit and await their fate.

Bo’ness were actually the better team in the first half and kept Carnoustie pinned back. They created numerous chances but failed to convert and the whistle meant the game was goalless at half time. In the second half Carnoustie took the game to their opponents and in 63 minutes only a Stewart Hunter goal-line clearance prevented Robert Hendry giving Carnoustie the lead. However only a minute later Panmure got themselves ahead when Calum Watson touched a Scott Gates corner home from close in.
