Aberdeen manager Craig Brown feels sorry for the Dons fans who have to travel down to Perth for tonight’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
The Pittodrie players have had to adapt their preparations over the weekend to suit the fixture, which has been scheduled to accommodate live television.
However, it is the travelling supporters who Brown has most concern for.
“We have had a Friday night kick-off against Dunfermline and a lunchtime kick-off against Rangers and now we have a Monday night kick-off.
“It doesn’t matter to the players but I feel sorry for the fans.
“This is one of the closest away grounds to Aberdeen but still the fans won’t be back home until midnight.
“But if we take the TV money we have to put up with it.”
The former Scotland boss, though, admits the timing of the fixture meant his players were allowed to enjoy to the full Darren Mackie’s testimonial dinner on Thursday night. “We gave the players Friday off and they were allowed to stay until the end,” explained Brown.
