Broxburn aim for cup final berth

BROXBURN ATHLETIC travel to Kelty Hearts for tonight’s Fife and Lothians Cup semi- final hoping to secure a place in Saturday’s final against Linlithgow Rose

A cup final appearance would finish off a wonderful season for Steve Pittman’s side, who have already clinched promotion to the Super League after finishing runners-up to Sauchie in the Premier League.

Tonight represents a tough task for the Broxburn players but Pittman is confident they can overcome the odds.

“We were fortunate to get a result against Thornton last Saturday with five regular players out, plus Craig Young lasted only ten minutes before he had to come off. That is a good sign that we have a strong squad because the players who came in did a great job. We still have a few injury worries but everyone wants to play and get us into a final. We came very close to beating Linlithgow in the League Cup and the players would like another go at them.

“We have, though, to put Linlithgow to the back of our minds and focus.”
