Burgh lose out as West End depart

Forfar have pulled out of the division after being unable to fulfil their fixtures which means their results will be wiped from the standings.

Burgh boss McGlynn, whose side face Linlithgow Rose tomorrow having originally been due to take on Carnoustie Panmure while Rose faced Forfar, revealed how this will affect his team.

“It’s a shambles,” he said. “We have Calvin Shand suspended for two games and we were thinking about appealing against his sending-off. But, as we had games against Carnoustie and Hill Of Beath pencilled in, we decided not to appeal. No disrespect to those teams, but now we are rescheduled to play a top side in the Super League without him instead. Plus, we have now dropped from third top to third bottom because we have played Forfar and beat them up there.

“We have also lost £400 cancellation penalty in bus money which he we can’t recoup. We all work to a budget where we look at the games where we can pull some back in and now we’re one game down at home.”

Linlithgow manager Dave Baikie has now seen his side scheduled to play Forfar twice and both games have failed to materialise.

“Luckily we haven’t played them so there will be no points deduction although it makes a mockery of the league standings. We’re going into this game with a lot of confidence after winning the League Cup last week, but now we have to look for consistency in the league.”
