Burns a hot signing for McGlynn

“He was down at the Nike Academy after being released by Hibs but became homesick and we’ve managed to get hold of him,” said Musselburgh manager David McGlynn.

Burns, who trained with East Stirling earlier in the season, joins two other former Easter Road starlets, Olly Russell and Jack Wilson, at Olivebank.

“He’s a lively young lad and it’s great that we’ve got him for nothing,” added McGlynn. “Good young players like Calum have a sell-on value.”

As a result of Burns arriving at the club, Grant Thomson has been sold back to Dunbar.

Musselburgh, who are ahead of Hill of Beath on goal difference, entertain Bonnyrigg Rose tomorrow (2.30pm kick-off) and McGlynn is happy to see his side setting the pace in the title race but is worried they are conceding too many goals.

Musselburgh’s last two games – against Bathgate and Camelon – have ended in 3-3 draws.

“We should be four points clear as they were both games we should have won,” he said. “Against Camelon, for instance, it was crazy that we gave away a penalty in the 92nd minute after saving one in the 88th minute.”

Bonnyrigg, who have two games in hand on their opponents, are just a point behind Musselburgh and Hill of Beath after an excellent 5-2 home win over St Andrews United last weekend. Rose boss Max Christie has since added Stuart Roseburgh to his squad after signing the winger from Linlithgow this week.
