Celtic and Rangers among clubs eyeing up Hearts' Osman Sow
Celtic and several English teams have declared an interest in securing Sow on a pre-contract agreement. It is believed Rangers are also monitoring the player. Hearts want to extend his deal, which expires in June, and are aware of others trying to tempt him away from Gorgie. The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals in 26 games so far this season and can sign a pre-contract with another club at any time. He is in no hurry to decide his future and is content to see out the season in Edinburgh. He hasn’t dismissed the possibility of staying on at Hearts and will take his time before making a final decision. Tynecastle officials are prepared to offer a significant wage increase in an attempt to keep him but Celtic and clubs in England can offer greater financial incentives.
The interested parties have contacted Sow’s representatives to make clear their intent. The Evening News has learned that a quick-fire move during the January transfer window looks unlikely at this stage. Hearts are keen to keep the forward for the second half of the season as they pursue European football and Scottish Cup success. Sow arrived at Tynecastle in July 2014 and signed a two-year contract after leaving Crystal Palace. He had been on trial with Cardiff City, Brentford and Blackpool the previous year. His time in Scotland has seen his reputation soar. He helped Hearts win the Championship in record time last year, followed by a strong first half of the season in the Premiership which has brought a flurry of interest.
