Dalkeith close in on title

MANAGER Willie Pearson leads his Dalkeith Thistle Juniors side into tonight’s game against Fauldhouse knowing victory would see his side clinch the South Division title, writes JOHN GILMOUR.

Thistle hold a five-point lead over tonight’s opponents, who have a game in hand, and boss Pearson said: “If we win tonight there will be no-one more proud of the team than me. But even if things go pear-shaped it’s been a great season for us. The players have been tremendous. It’s all in our hands but Fauldhouse will have their own ideas.”

Should Dalkeith be held to a draw at home, they’d need a victory in their final match against Pumpherston to secure the championship.

Fauldhouse boss Dave Cowan said: “It’s going to be a tough, tight game as was the one between us earlier in the season. All the punters keep waiting for Dalkeith to trip up but Willie’s got them firing on all cylinders. They are the in-form club just now and it’s going to be hard to get a result there.”
