Hay taking no chances on East Fife visit

Kilmarnock will treat East Fife as though they are Clydesdale Bank Premier League opposition in tonight’s Scottish Communities League Cup quarter-final, according to Garry Hay.

The Irn-Bru Second Division Fifers have already claimed the scalps of SPL opposition Dunfermline and Aberdeen in the tournament and Hay claims Killie will be pulling out all the stops to ensure they do not become the latest victims of this year’s giant-killers.

The Rugby Park utility man said: “People might say that it’s the ideal draw for us – that might be true or not but they will be treated like any SPL opponent that we play. We’ve got info on them and won’t take them lightly.”

Meanwhile, East Fife boss John Robertson knows his side will need to be on the top of their game at Rugby Park tonight.

“Hopefully our earlier wins will have given Kilmarnock plenty to think about,” he said.

“I have had them watched a couple of times and have plans in place to stop them hurting us, but we have to play at our very best to progress to a semi-final place.”
