HIBS have been handed the carrot of a tie against English Premier League club Swansea City if they can beat Malmo and progress to the Europa League’s third qualifying round.
The draw in Nyon paired the winners of the Hibs/Malmo second round qualifier with Michael Laudrup’s team, who finished ninth in England’s top flight last season and won the Capital One Cup.
Hibs lost 2-0 in Sweden on Thursday and face a difficult task to overhaul the deficit when Malmo visit Easter Road next week for the second leg.
St Johnstone, who lead Rosenborg 1-0 following their first leg in Norway, will meet Valletta of Malta or FC Minsk from Belarus should they progress.
Motherwell were drawn against the Russian club Kuban Krasnodar.
All Europa League third qualifying round matches are scheduled to take place on August 1 and 8.
