Fauldhouse won’t abandon their footballing philosophy in title chase

Fauldhouse manager David Cowan is determined to prove a point – by winning the South Division title with flair and fight in equal measures.

“I keep being told that you can’t win this league by playing football,” he said. “But we’ve tried to do that this season and will continue to do so.

Dalkeith and Haddington are other teams who try to get the ball down.”

Cowan’s side are in the thick of a thrilling title battle. Falkirk head into this weekend’s games on top but have Tranent, Fauldhouse, Dalkeith and Livingston hanging on to their coat-tails. Fauldhouse have eight games left, starting with three on the bounce away – Blackburn tomorrow, Whitburn on Tuesday then Falkirk next Saturday.

“It is getting down to the wire now,” admitted Cowan. “If someone gets beat they are almost out of the race. We are all fighting for just one spot – that’s simply not right.”

In other games tomorrow, second-top Tranent are at Dunbar, Dalkeith host Spartans, Falkirk welcome Harthill, Haddington are at home to Stoneyburn, Pumpherston face West Calder and Edinburgh United travel to Whitburn.
