Funeral details revealed for Hibs fan Sam Martinez

THE funeral of Sam Martinez, the Capital's oldest Hibs fan, who died last week, aged 106, will be held on Monday.

Sam, who followed the Easter Road side’s every twist and turn since first arriving in Edinburgh in 1945 to aid the war effort, had watched his beloved club lift the Scottish Cup just months before his death.

The funeral will take place in the Lorimer chapel at Warriston crematorium on Monday at 1pm. The family said there would be an opportunity after the service for donations to the fight against ovarian cancer and Edinburgh-based CCLASP (Children with Cancer and Leukaemia, Advice and Support for Parents).
