Whitehill Welfare are once again looking for a new manager after Grant Carnie resigned his post.

Carnie offered his resignation on Wednesday, which was accepted by the Lowland League club’s committee following Tuesday night’s 3-1 loss away to bottom club Threave Rovers.

A Whitehill club statement read: “The club can confirm that Grant Carnie has resigned from his position as manager of the football club.

“We would like to thank Grant for his commitment and hard work in the role and wish him all the best for the future.

“Applications are now being accepted for the vacant role. Suitable applicants should contact the Club Secretary or Chairman for further details.”

Former Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale boss carnie replaced previous incumbent Mickey Lawson towards the end of last season, but has endured an inconsistent tenure at Ferguson Park, with a large number of postponed matches preventing Welfare from building any serious momentum following a high turnover of players in pre-season.

Despite that, Carnie leaves the Rosewell club sitting in mid-table with 30 points from 20 matches played.

Under-20s manager Ian Flynn will take charge of the first team for tomorrow’s trip to Dalbeattie Star. He’ll be joined in the dugout by usual assistant John McCraw and first-team right back Andy Martin.
