Haddington boss wants to get stuttering team back on a Hi once again

The Hi-Hi were flying high until they slipped up at home to local rivals Dunbar a fortnight ago before also losing to Arniston last weekend.

They are still sitting at the top of the table, five points clear of second-placed Fauldhouse, but McLeish is keen to see them return to winning ways at home to Livingston this weekend.

“We hadn’t been firing on all cylinders, to be honest, and Dunbar deserved their win against us as they showed the better application on the day,” he said. “Then, against Arniston, they should have beaten us by a lot more.

“We need a building block to get things going again, but it will be tough, though, as (fourth-placed) Livingston are also a good team.”

Four teams will earn promotion at the end of the season and, though the Hi-Hi are leading the race at the moment, McLeish knows there is a long way to go.

“I don’t think you could say that anyone is the favourite at the moment, though the bookies would probably say Fauldhouse are,” he said.

“There are a lot of strong teams in this league, making it really competitive yet again. Dunbar could still force themselves into the promotion race and so, too, could Arniston if they went on a run.

“If we can pick up another 25 points from our next ten matches then hopefully that will give us a chance of being in the mix when it matters in May.”
