Hamilton, Paterson and McGinn called into Scotland squad
Hearts goalkeeper Jack Hamilton has been called into the Scotland squad for the World Cup qualifier against Malta.
The 22-year-old has kept his place in the group following his late addition to the pool for the end-of-season friendlies against Italy and France.
Hamilton did not play in any of those matches, but is understood to have impressed manager Gordon Strachan in training and, subsequently, with his performances for the Jambos at the start of this season.
The Denny-born stopper was handed the gloves this season by Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson and Hamilton has repaid him with solid showings thus far.
The two other goalkeepers called into the squad are Celtic’s Craig Gordon and Cardiff’s David Marshall.
Hamilton’s fellow Hearts player Callum Paterson has been included in the 23-man group for the trip to Valletta on September 4, while in-form Hibs midfielder John McGinn has also been selected. Both have one cap to their name.
