RUDI SKACEL is back in Edinburgh after signing for Coerver Coaching, where he will pass on his unique brand of flair and skill to children hoping to emulate his achievements in football.
The 34-year-old former Hearts icon has been without a club since leaving Slavia Prague last year and is currently in talks with Alloa about a possible move to the Championship.
In the meantime, he has returned to Scotland to launch Coerver’s Rudi Skacel Play Like The Stars programme, which starts next month. The series of coaching sessions and clinics offers young players the chance to learn how to play like their hero and help educate coaches in the finer skills of the game. Skacel will attend the classes personally to pass on his own guidance and advice to children aged between seven and 14. “It’s great to be back in Scotland,” said Skacel. “This is a great opportunity for me to work with the coaching experts at Coerver Coaching and to share my playing experience,” with some young players and coaches.”
Kids who enrol for Rudi Skacel Play Like The Stars will receive monthly training based on the qualities of the former Czech International. The sessions will focus on developing skillful, confident and creative footballers.
Coerver Coaching director Gordon Craig said: “Throughout our history we have worked with some of the game’s leading players, right back to players such as Rivelino, Matthews and Beckenbauer, using them as teaching models to current stars such as Van Persie, who was also a Coerver student. We are looking forward to working with Rudi, allowing our coaches to analyse and break down some of the skills and outstanding attributes he brought to Scottish football during his time at Hearts. He has been one of the exciting players in our game in modern years and we believe he is an outstanding role model to inspire young players.”
The course also includes video analysis, Q&A sessions with Skacel and homework to practise between clinics. Visit www.coerver.co.uk to enrol.
