Several clubs in the Belgian First Division A are competing for his signature, but Waasland-Beveren are favourites to land him at the moment.

Dundee had been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, but Juanma’s preference is to move abroad rather than join another club in Scotland. Hearts will attempt to sign another striker once his move is finalised.

Juanma scored 13 goals in 39 games last season after leaving the Greek club Kalloni to sign a three-year contract at Tynecastle.

He has been unable to command a regular place so far this season, with Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson admitting the forward’s work rate was lacking.

He jetted out of Edinburgh this morning and is now in Belgium hoping to sort out his future.
