The player’s contract at the City Ground expires in a few weeks, and Tynecastle officials will wait until then rather than sign him on a pre-contract agreement.

Todorov has been offered a one-year deal by Hearts after impressing on trial at Riccarton. He will join next season’s under-20 squad once the agreement is signed and registered. Coaching staff believe he has the potential to break through into the senior squad if he can develop his game in Scotland.

Todorov played under-21 football in Nottingham but was unable to make a breakthrough into the Forest first team. He signed professional terms with the English Championship side last year and was then sent on loan to gain more experience.

He spent time with National League clubs Worcester City and Hemel Hempstead before being told his Forest contract would not be renewed. Standing 6ft 3ins, Todorov is known as a hard-working
striker with good aerial ability.
