The 25-year-old will train at Riccarton until Tuesday before a decision is made on his future. Levein is looking for competition for strikers Kyle Lafferty and Steven Naismith and Guessan is available as a free agent.

He played in Norway with Viking FK last year having previously spent most of his professional career in Algeria. He was born in Paris but has represented the Ivory Coast at Under-20 level.

As a youth player, Guessan was on the books of Nantes in France and Padova in Italy before his spell in the Algerian league.

He headed to Europe hoping to make an impact in Scandinavia but left Viking at the end of last year amid allegations of disciplinary issues. He has been on the lookout for a new club ever since.
