Robbie Neilson’s men are still heavy favourites to return to the Premiership. With that, the Tynecastle boss and the club’s recruitment department will be putting plans in place to strengthen the team this month and further ahead.
One such way is to target players whose current deals are expiring. Hearts would be able to open talks this month for those individuals have six months or fewer left on their contract.
There are a number of players in the Premiership who fall into that category. Players who could be seen as shrewd recruits.
With that in mind we look at those who could interest Neilson.
1. Eamonn Brophy - Kilmarnock

2. Greg Stewart - Rangers

3. Stuart Findlay - Kilmarnock
The centre-back is likely to be in-demand. It hasn’t been his best season for Killie, but since being moved in from left-back under Steve Clarke has emerged as a Scotland international and a fine defender. A left-footed centre-back who would add pace to a backline. Photo: Ross MacDonald - SNS Group
4. Ross Stewart - Ross County
Another who is likely to have offers from north and south of the border. Despite his size, has played wide for the Staggies but is best as a free striker who works his socks off, selfless, closes down, wins headers, able to create for himself and is a goal threat. Photo: Ross MacDonald - SNS Group
