Hearts skipper Alim Ozturk scored two goals in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Aberdeen in the Development League fixture at Riccarton.
Alim, on the comeback trail following hernia surgery, was appearing in his third Under-20 fixture, but this time played the full 90 minutes.
Hearts also fielded Jack Hamilton, Billy King and Danny Swanson as over-age players against a youthful Aberdeen team.
Aberdeen had the best chance of the opening exchanges but Craig Storie scored from the penalty spot on 26 minutes. The award was given after a cross into the box brushed against Robbie Buchanan’s arm.
Hearts equalised two minutes later when Dario Zanatta collected a Liam Henderson pass and skipped past a defender before scoring with an angled left-foot shot.
King and Zanatta came close with further efforts before Ozturk scored the first of his two goals with a free-kick from 25 yards that found the net via the underside of the crossbar.
Ozturk scored a third goal six minutes into the second half from another free-kick, again delivered from around 25 yards. This time Dons keeper David Craddock allowed the ball to squirm through his legs and into the corner of the net. Hearts were now in full control apart from the occasional breakaway, and they could have scored another two or three goals.
Zanatta had a strong shot saved by the keeper with his leg. King also had a shot saved, and in the final minute Craddock brilliantly touched a Swanson shot onto the crossbar.
