Alim Ozturk has been named as Hearts’ new captain.
The 22-year-old Turkish centre-back takes over the skipper’s armband from Danny Wilson, who left at the end of Hearts’ Championship-winning campaign and subsequently signed for Rangers.
Ozturk moved to Tynecastle from Trabzonspor last summer and swiftly established himself as a mainstay in the team. He enjoys a strong bond with the Hearts support following his famous 40-yard wonder strike which rescued a point against city rivals Hibs at Easter Road last October.
The former Turkish Under-21 internationalist beat off competition from more experienced team-mates Neil Alexander, Blazej Augustyn and Morgaro Gomis to land the captaincy.
