Berra originally returned to Scotland to sign for his first club in 2017 because he wanted to be closer to his family.
Scottish Championship sides Dundee and Queen of the South retain an interest in the 41-cap Scotland defender.
The ex-Hearts captain has been training with the reserves voluntarily after being told by manager Daniel Stendel that he is no longer part of the first-team plans at Tynecastle.
Berra's contract runs for another 18 months.
