Craig Gordon says he is nearing a decision on his future after confirming talks over a possible return to Hearts.

The 37-year-old keeper revealed that he has received a number of offers since becoming a free agent following the expiry of his Celtic contract at the end of May.

The Parkhead side have made him an offer to stay on reduced terms, while new Hearts boss Robbie Neilson is keen to take his former team mate back to Tynecastle.

Gordon, right, told BBC Sportsound that he is also targeting a Scotland recall.

“They [Hearts] are definitely a club I’ve been speaking to, but there have been a few,” he said. “I’m very happy with the way everything has gone in the last few days and I’m hopeful that within the next week or so something will be organised.

“There’s going to be a number of factors to take into consideration. We’re talking about Scotland only being potentially a couple of games away from managing to qualify for a major tournament and the only way I can try and force my way back into Steve Clarke’s thoughts is to play football. That’s going to be a main thing for me to think about.

“The financial aspect, not so much, but obviously, if there is an awful lot of money on the table, then it’s something you do have to take a view on as a player. Those are things will come into making the decision in the end. We’ll see in the next week or so what happens there.”

Gordon only managed six appearances for Celtic last season but he says he is feeling fitter than ever after working hard during lockdown.

“I’m feeling in really great shape, as well as I have done in the last five years,” he said. “I’ve really worked hard over lockdown so I’m absolutely ready to go to give it the best shot I possibly can.

“I do realise that time is running out for me but I’m still hopeful I’ve got a good few years left in my body. I’ve put an awful lot of work in over the last few months to make sure when I do go back to training I’m in top shape.”
