Have your say

Craig Levein’s appointment as Hearts head coach sent social media into a frenzy. Here’s what fans had to say ...

Graeme Taylor: “Craig Levein was very successful Hearts manager and player and I will be right behind him and the team. I remember his enjoyable fast-paced counter-attacking football coupled with a hard to break down defence. Something we’ve been craving since November last year.”

George Watson: “Oh dear, what a shambles, this is ridiculous, do they not care about the fans anymore?”

Billy Butler: “Excellent news. We’ll massively improve under Craig.”

Derek Wilson: “How underwhelming. Meant to get a lift when a new manager comes in.”

William Sutherland: “Not my choice but we are all Hearts. Surprised though after having guys shortlisted for the job. They had to be rubbish during interview for this to happen.”

Ryan McMaster: “Win/win for us fans really. If he gets the team playing good football and gets results then we’ll be happy. If he doesn’t then he’s completely accountable, and we get rid of him.”

Duncan H L Smith: “Wrong choice. Great player and gave me great memories. I just can’t see him connecting with his players. I hope I’m proved wrong.”

Andy Mullen: “Win/win. Either he improves the team or he takes full responsibility and exits Tynecastle if he fails.”

Julie Wilson: “Regardless of what I think of the end appointment what an embarrassment going through four weeks of applications and an interview process!!”

Adull Amite: “Not happy. This is not the new experienced blood we need!”

Drew Mayne: “Great news, did a great job the last time.”

Craig Thomas: “Sad we didn’t get Mourinho or convince Fergie out of retirement, but this will have to do... Time to get behind the team 100 per cent, what a difference that would make! Can’t see it happening though.”

Nicol Hay: “Craig Levein is an excellent coach at SPL level. My only concern is that this leaves Hearts light in executives. On the pitch will be fine.”

Regi: “Great appointment in Craig Levein ... outstanding manager should have been in charge of dressing-room long before now.”

Ben Nicholson (a Dundee United fan): “Hope Craig Levein shuts up the miserable Jambos. Would kill for that man to be United manager right now.”

Tom Holligan: “If Craig Levein is still the gaffer he was at Hearts the first time and Dundee United I really don’t know how people can complain.”

David Baird: “Delighted that Craig Levein has been appointed manager. He has the passion, knowledge and experience that the club needs to be successful.”

Evan McFarlane: “Craig Levein was utterly out of his depth at Scotland but he’s not necessarily a bad manager. Should steady the ship at Hearts at least.”

Damien Speirs: “Craig Levein was the worst Scotland manager I’ve seen, that said he’s not a bad choice for Hearts manager.”

Ewan Murray: “Always amuses me: how irate people get re Craig Levein. Excellent manager of Hearts and Dundee United. Best qualified by a mile this time.”

Russell Smith: “Craig Levein becoming Hearts head coach is just weird. It totally contradicts everything they said about a progressive structure.”

Lewis Swanson: “Craig Levein is a top manager at club level, good appointment by Hearts.”

Blair Messer: “Who cares what’s gone on before, all that matters is we back Craig Levein 100 per cent.”

Rab Lockhart: “Craig Levein the new gaffer, worse appointments out there to be honest.”

Vic Weddell: “Welcome back to the hot seat Craig Levein. Proper Hearts man. We move onwards and upwards.”

Laurie Dunsire: “Craig Levein was a successful Hearts manager, who played plenty of direct, attacking, fast-paced football. Many seem to forget this.”
